First Year Representative Election

Enrolled in a first year physics course? Want to engage more with the physics department and student body? PhySU is now beginning the election process for its First Year Representative.

Description: The First-year representative will have an opportunity to help organize events alongside other PhySU execs (parties, trivia nights, academic events etc.), come up with and implement your own ideas of engaging activities for other first year students and be a general liaison between the department, PhySU and your peers.

Election Process:

To sign up as a candidate, you must submit the following google form before October 7th: https://forms.gle/6DH41YWtQqGxEoCT9 In it, you will be asked to provide names of 2 first-year physics students who endorse your candidacy.

You will also provide a personal statement (on why you thing you are the most suitable candidate) and photo, which will be shared on the PhySU discord, to help your peers choose candidates to vote for.

Week of October 10th, all confirmed candidates will have an information meeting with the execs and the personal statements & photos will be published on discord.

The week of October 17th (date TBA), each candidate will deliver a short speech (in person, in the graduate lounge) and elections will open (until the end of that week). Results will then be announced within a few days.
