The PhySU Reading Group program connects undergraduate students with a passion for a particular specialized topic in physics or math with a small group of fellow students interested in learning something beyond the standard curriculum. Topics for the current year include the physics of photons, approaches to theoretical physics based on geometry and symmetries, the dynamics of racecars, and more, as you can see below.
We have groups running both for the semester and the whole year. Groups meet weekly or biweekly and can cover content in a more traditional lecture style or an informal discussion setting, depending on the leader and interests of the group. At the end of each semester, the groups have a chance to get together and share what they learned with each other.
It is a rewarding experience for both group leaders and members and students from all years and backgrounds are welcome to join. Keep an eye on the PhySU Discord and your emails at the start of terms for the sign up form. Interested leaders will have a chance to apply to lead winter groups in November.
